BD-IPMN adenocarcinoma of the pancreas refers to a branch-duct intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (BD-IPMN) that has progressed to, or is associated with, pancreatic adenocarcinoma.
What is a BD-IPMN?
A BD-IPMN is a mucus-producing cystic growth that arises from the side branches of the pancreatic duct system. It is considered a precancerous lesion because some BD-IPMNs can gradually develop high-grade dysplasia and eventually invasive cancer.
